work from home genuine jobs

I work from 3am till 12noon, tuesday to saturday in my day job, so have a few hours spare a week. Don’t want to do selling!!!
Forgot to say, only uk stuf plz :-)

Answer: There is, but it’s not easy to find.

1.) Work from home regular job

Some employers will allow employees to work from home on things which can be done over the Internet. It saves them money (no office equipment and supplies needed for work-at-home employees), and it can be part-time, which is what would work for you. Usually, you have to apply for the job, and then ask about the possibility of working from home.

2.) Creating your own home employment.

* If there is something you are really interested in – passionate about, even – learn as much about it as you can, and build a Website to share your information. The more specific (narrow focus), the better. For example, maintaining excellent soccer fields in the northwest or the Lakes District. If your site is good and you keep adding to it (how to repair the field after a big storm has hit, reviews of different grass seed types), you can build up a lot of traffic.

If you have good traffic numbers or the “right traffic” (all the people who run soccer fields in the Northwest) you’ll attract advertisers – grass seed companies, manufacturers of mowers and field striping equipment, etc. With advertisers, you have revenue.

Both Yahoo and Google offer services to Website owners that will provide them with advertising revenue. And there are “advertising networks” like the Burst Network that can provide you with revenue if you have sufficient traffic. In addition, there are affiliate networks that can provide you with some advertising revenue, too, although it’s skewed to protecting the advertisers not the Websites so it’s not too trustworthy over the long term.

* Selling products online. You can do it on eBay, of couse, as everyone knows. You can also do it on Craig’s List and Google Base – both FREE to use in most cases. It can be a real business or just an occasional chunk of income if you have access to nice things to sell, and you do it carefully. Read a couple of RECENT books about how to do it (I think there’s a Dummies Guide to Selling on eBay, but it may be out of date), and get started. If you are methodical and ethical, you can make money at it.

* If you run an information Website (like this one, but on a much smaller scale), you MAY be able to charge people for access to your information, if it is truly unique and important to some relatively large group or to a small group with lots of money to spend. You can make $1,000,000 selling 1,000 items that cost $1,000 each or 1,000,000 items that cost $1 each.

* If you are comfortable writing or can hire someone who is (see eLance.com), you MAY be able to write e-books to sell on a Website. You may even be able to sell you e-books on Amazon and other outlets. But, it takes a good e-book, VERY good marketing, and lots of experience.

If you do the information Website route, be sure to resist the temptation to “borrow” the content of someone else’s Website! Copyright laws DO apply to Web content, regardless of what anyone may have told you to the contrary. And in the U.S. you can be liable for triple damages and attorney’s fees if they find you and come after you. And you WILL lose the Website because the hosting company will be required by law to take it off line, and you could lose the domain name, too, if a court decides that you’ve no right to it.

Most of these don’t cost anything significant up front to get started. If you decide to do a Website, you’ll need it “hosted” somewhere, but you can get that for $25/month at most. You may need to buy software, etc.

I know you can make very nice money from advertisers off a Website because I do it.

It isn’t easy, and it isn’t usually very quick, but you can make it work – if you work at it.

Note – this may involve some selling! Don’t know many things that you can do for yourself that don’t involve some sort of selling because you need customers for whatever you do, except – maybe – the advertiser supported Website.

Good luck!
