Question: I want to start an online business selling home made purses. What sewing machine under $300 should I buy.?

I want to use different fabrics and stitches for decoration and I want to be able to embroider with it and do a hem binding like for t shirts and stuff. Do I want a serger or a sewing machine? I heard that singers are crappy now that I should buy viking or beringer? I that true?
